Brendon Woods has 35 years’ experience in the Radio and Mobile Telecommunications Industry of which he has spent the last 17 years as a professional consultant and held senior roles. He is one of the leading subject matter experts in EME compliance in Australia covering measurements, analysis, training and management.
Key areas of consultancy offered include – Principal Nata signatory, Quality Manager, Nata Technical Assessor, Business Development, Public consultation, mentoring and training.
He is currently the Principal Consultant and Managing Director of Brendon Woods Consulting Pty Ltd, an independent Professional Consultancy company specialising in wireless technologies, Electromagnetic Energy (EME) and compliance.
Brendon fulfilled a senior technical role (Principal) in Telstra as an RF Engineer designing radio networks in regional and remote Western Australia. He was responsible for analysing mobile base station design proposals and the implementation of safe practices to undertake both construction and maintenance activities. Brendon performed EME measurements and carried out over-exposure investigations, together with complex modelling of EMF fields.
Further technical roles in Electronics design and Equipment development in an Innovation laboratory covering concept design, prototyping, testing and product development followed.
In 1998 Brendon founded “Radhaz Consulting Pty Ltd”, one of the first professional consultancy company’s specialising in Electromagnetic Energy (EME) to meet the growth in wireless and Mobile Phone networks. As Managing Director and Principal Consultant between 1998 and 2007 he positioned the company as the leader in the industry. Here, Brendon was instrumental in the implementation of the national EME framework for EME compliance with the ARPANSA Radiation Protection Standard (RPS3) and the development of the compliance documentation for the Telecommunications industry.
This successful Company was sold in 2007 to Service Stream and Brendon was retained as the Principal Consultant/Business Development Manager until 2010 when he left to join UGL to develop and manage their EME program.
Brendon has developed, implemented and managed ISO17020 and ISO17025 quality systems for three major engineering companies – Service Stream, UGL and Aurecon to attain Nata accreditation.
- Member of International “Smart Sustainable cities – Telecommunications paper” committee member responsible for developing a plan for future city develops with respect to communications. Member of Standards Australia – supporting the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) Maintenance Team 3 review of IEC 62232 Ed. 2.0. – ‘Determination of RF field strength and SAR in the vicinity of Radio communication base stations for the purpose of evaluating human exposure’.
